As stated by law...
Where you can and can't carry legally in Florida:
You are NOT authorized to carry into any:

  • place of nuisance (read definition)
  • police, sheriff, or highway patrol station
  • detention facility, prison, or jail
  • courthouse or courtroom (city, state, or federal)
  • polling / voting place
  • meeting place of governing body of a county
  • meeting place of governing body of a municipality
  • meeting place of governing body of a public school district
  • meeting place of governing body of a special district
  • meeting of the legislature or committee there of
  • school event not related to firearms
  • college event not related to firearms
  • professional athletic event not related to firearms
  • school administration building
  • bar area where alcohol is served for consumption  (read definition)
  • elementary, middle, or high schools
  • career centers
  • ANY college or university (does not state private or public)
  • area beyond the metal detectors of an airport
  • military bases unless you have authorized permission from the CO
  • VA Property or Va Medical Building (has separate federal code)

  • Yes: You can carry in the car without a license (read laws)
  • Yes/ No / Maybe:  US Post Office It's Complicated. (read laws)
  • Yes: You can carry in Banks and Churches  in Florida.
  • Yes: Private businesses, malls, etc... (read limitations)
  • Yes: You can carry while drinking (read limitations)

  • The statute states that any person who willfully violates any
    provision of this subsection is guilty of a 2nd degree misdemeanor.  
    A police officer can arrest you for any reason.  NEVER argue with
    an arresting officer or any other law enforcement officer for that
    matter. Do not resist the officer physically or verbally.  You may
    also be charged with resisting arrest. Save your argument for the
    judge.  If the judge truly believes you were unaware (not willfully) in
    violation of the law, the judge can then dismiss the charge based
    on your ignorance.  This is one of the few times that "ignorance of
    the law' may be an excuse.

Be Securely Concealed, Polite, Courteous, and Smartly Sober when
carrying.  You are rightfully and legally held to a higher standard of
conduct when carrying a firearm.   Carrying is not for everyone.  
When in doubt...Don't carry.  If you truly believe you're going to need a
gun when going some place...AVOID the place!

790.10  Improper exhibition of dangerous weapons or firearms.--If any person
having or carrying any dirk, sword, sword cane, firearm, electric weapon or device, or
other weapon shall, in the presence of one or more persons, exhibit the same in a
rude, careless, angry, or threatening manner, not in necessary self-defense, the
person so offending shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable
as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.

Florida State Statute 790.06  License to
carry concealed weapon or firearm.-- (12)
    No license issued pursuant to this
    section shall authorize any person
    to carry a concealed weapon or
    firearm into any place of nuisance
    as defined in s. 823.05; any
    police, sheriff, or highway patrol
    station; any detention facility,
    prison, or jail; any courthouse;
    any courtroom, except that
    nothing in this section would
    preclude a judge from carrying a
    concealed weapon or determining
    who will carry a concealed
    weapon in his or her courtroom;
    any polling place; any meeting of
    the governing body of a county,
    public school district, municipality,
    or special district; any meeting of
    the Legislature or a committee
    thereof; any school, college, or
    professional athletic event not
    related to firearms; any school
    administration building; any
    portion of an establishment
    licensed to dispense alcoholic
    beverages for consumption on the
    premises, which portion of the
    establishment is primarily devoted
    to such purpose; any elementary
    or secondary school facility; any
    career center; any college or
    university facility unless the
    licensee is a registered student,
    employee, or faculty member of
    such college or university and the
    weapon is a stun gun or nonlethal
    electric weapon or device
    designed solely for defensive
    purposes and the weapon does
    not fire a dart or projectile; inside
    the passenger terminal and sterile
    area of any airport, provided that
    no person shall be prohibited from
    carrying any legal firearm into the
    terminal, which firearm is encased
    for shipment for purposes of
    checking such firearm as
    baggage to be lawfully
    transported on any aircraft; or any
    place where the carrying of
    firearms is prohibited by federal
    law. Any person who willfully
    violates any provision of this
    subsection commits a
    misdemeanor of the second
    degree, punishable as provided in
    s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.
